Judgey Wins The Silverware

Posted on: Wed 09 May 2012

Alan Judge scooped the main piece of silverware at Tuesday night's 2011/12 Player of the Year Awards Dinner.

Judge was named Fans' Player of the Year for his tireless performances in the black and white stripes, which saw him score eight goals and chip in with 13 assists.

Over 900 supporters voted for the Irishman, who also picked up the Players' Player of the Year, as voted for by his teammates.

Jeff Hughes was another player to complete a double on the night, taking home the Golden Boot (17 goals) and Manager's Player of the Year trophies.

Goal of the Year was handed to Lee Hughes for his wonder strike against Walsall at Meadow Lane and Mike Edwards received the Community Award, after making more community appearances than any other player, many of them organised personally.

A series of Youth Team awards were presented, with goalkeeper Fabian Spiess being rewarded for his displays with both the Youth Manager's Player of the Year and Youth Players' Player of the Year awards.

Jonathan Boyack won the remaining two youth accolades - the Golden Boot and Goal of the Year for a delightful chip against Rotherham United.

Rounding off the night was the Supporters' Club Merit Award, which was deservedly presented to long-serving employee Jo Richardson for her continued hard work across numerous departments at Meadow Lane.

£2,000 was also donated by the Supporters' Club to finance netting that will be used behind the goals during warm-ups.
